Print License:
An instrument that
defines the agreement to assign the print rights of a copyrighted
work. The assignment is made by the legal owner of the print right,
or his representative (licensor), to another (licensee). Print
rights are usually assigned to, and administered by, the music

The monetary compensation paid to a print
right licensor to obtain a print license. The amount of the payment

The right, authorized
by copyright law, to reproduce a copyrighted work in printed form.

Print Royalty:
The compensation paid
to a copyright owner for printed use of his work, e.g., song
folios
and sheet music. If the work has been assigned to a music publisher
by the songwriter(s) who created the work, the royalty is paid
by the music publisher to the songwriter. The amount paid is proportionate
to the license fees received by the publisher from its print publisher
licensees. Or, from the sales gross if the publisher is printing
and publishing in-house. The royalty rate paid is defined by the
