A person with access to songs, artists,
musicians, arrangers, angels, recording engineers, studios, etc.,
who selects the people and material to create master recordings.
A producer may work for himself (self-producer), be hired to work
for someone else (in-house or staff producer), or be sub-contracted
by a record company to make a specified number of masters (independent

Executive Producer:
A person who invests his own money, or
otherwise procures such money, to finance a production, e.g.,
record production, theatrical production, etc.. See: ANGEL,

Master Producer:
A person who creates, or is in charge of
the production of, a master recording. See: MASTER.

Producer Royalties:
The percent of gross income, i.e., the royalty payments received by a producer from a record he has produced. These royalties are defined in the Producer/Record Company or Producer/Motion Picture contract. They usually range, depending on negotiating power, from 4% to 8% of the record's gross.
