An organization made up of people who have
like occupations. Their purpose is to promote such like interests
by collectively negotiating wage disputes, and by establishing
union scale. Scale, as it is called, is the union negotiated minimum
wage amount that must be paid to its members for a specified amount

Union scale may vary in different geological
locations. A union also negotiates working conditions, work week
length, and other grievances or differences of opinion that they
may have with employers.
Most unions have local branches that cover
a specified geographical area. Members of the locals elect national
representatives (but they are concerned with local affairs). Locals
operate according to the rules of both national and local charters.
In the music business, companies who employ
union member musicians and people with other music related occupations
negotiate contractual agreements with their unions every two to
